Fumeng County, located in the northwest of Liaoning Province, sits on the southern edge of the Horqin Sandy Lands. The 21st Changchun International Agricultural and Food Expo (Trade Fair), which lasted ten days, concluded successfully on August 27. Despite the impact of the pandemic, this year’s event still attracted more than 1,500 leading enterprises from within the province and across China. In-person attendance reached 680,000, while online views neared 50 million.
According to the recent red alert for high temperatures issued by the National Meteorological Center, some areas in southern Shaanxi, eastern Sichuan, Chongqing, and central Zhejiang may experience maximum temperatures exceeding 40°C. Meanwhile, in Changchun, Jilin—where daytime highs have yet to reach 30°C—the weather remains pleasantly mild.
As an important commercial grain base and major grain-producing region in China, Changchun accounts for over 85% of its total grain output from corn, resulting in abundant corn straw resources. Over the past year or so, the city has vigorously implemented a project aimed at developing a 3-million-head beef cattle industry under the “Turning Straw into Meat” initiative, thereby strengthening its industrial foundation. By the end of 2021, the city’s beef cattle population had reached 1.329 million head, up 25.7% year-on-year on a comparable basis, yielding significant results.
As Siping City’s “Year of Serving Enterprises” initiative continues to gain momentum, on the afternoon of August 3, a delegation led by officials from the Siping Branch of the Bank of China visited Shunbang to host a bank–enterprise exchange meeting and a joint themed Party‑building activity, under the theme “Dedicated Service to Enterprises, Supporting Business Growth.”
